The bigger the hoop the heavier it will be and slower it will rotate, therefore maintaining it's momentum. This provides the hooper with more control over the hoop.
For your first hoop a good choice is a larger diameter. If you have a little skill already and want more challenge choose a smaller size.
A good method for picking the right hoop for you is to measure the distance from your belly button to the floor while standing. This measurement is the diameter of you should start with. If you have a healthy middle you will want to choose a hoop with a larger diameter. The more space between you and the hoop the more likely you are to ensure success. When in doubt go bigger.
